Since we could not obtain justice through the RCMP, we decided to enlist help from the media:
Radio Canada - CBC (Canadian Broadcasting Corporation)
Rosaire L'Iltalien, interviewer
1 English & 3 French Segments (5-10 min.
each)
Rosaire got a promotion; the station broke rating records
November 1992
Fifth Estate - CBC Newsworld International Station
Lynden McIntyre, Interviewer
20 Minute Segment - Brought the accused & accuser face to face after nearly 3 decades.
They made millions & we no longer existed
January 1993
The Leeza Show
Leeza Gibbons, Interviewer
To promote Dr. Kathy Reichs' fiction novel (Deja Dead), they faked a blood test on national television.
Although we were told we were there to tell our side of the story, the aired version portrayed us as pawns for Dr. Reichs'glory!
October 1996
Northwest Afternoon - Seattle, Washington Area
On Air Telephone Interview Conducted By Show
Host
Another stop on Dr. Reichs' book tour!
The host announced our True-Crime book, "Victims of the System, Part 1: The Crimes" in print.
October 1996
Along with our television appearances, we sent letters to:
Canadian Federal Government - including President Cretien
The only agency to even respond was the Queen's Privy, who forwarded our letter to the Federal Attorney (Solicitor) General,
who forwarded it to the province of New Brunswick's Attorney (Solicitor) General, who said the RCMP was federally paid, so
he had no jurisdiction & hence forwarded our letter to one of several RCMP Superintendents - J Division
Right back into the hands of the problem source!
Unsolved Mysteries - 2 or 3 different letters sent
They could not use the story, but told us to feel free to re-submit at a later date. After 3 tries, we gave up!
Hard Copy - John Moffet responded with enthusiasm
Unfortunately, they could not air our story, because the RCMP claimed their investigation was ongoing. However, Moffet
said to let him know the moment the RCMP solved or closed the case & he would definitely put us on the air. Problem is, the
RCMP have the case listed as a disappearance, not a murder!
In April 2001, we received a letter from the RCMP saying the case would be filed unsolved & would receive no further attention unless new evidence was found. This case may never be solved & it appears the RCMP want it that way!
* * * Our goal was to force the RCMP & the New Brunswick Prosecutor, George Chiasson, to do their jobs. In this province, the decision to prosecute cases is based on a cost / win ability percentage, not whether a crime has been committed. This case was originally sent to St. John, New Brunswick Prosecutor, Graham Fleet. (The most talked about prosecutor in New Brunswick, refused to even bother with the case.)Some big shot he was! Also, we wanted to raise public awareness that such injustices exist, to possibly speed up the process of enacting new laws, which would protect the victims, instead of the criminals. * * *
Several Newspaper articles were written over the course of events from 1992 through 1995. Some of the papers who wrote stories were: English : Telegraph Journal & Regional NEWS Staff;
French : Le Madawaska & L'Acadie Nouvelle
In closing this credits section, we will leave you with this thought:
The accused, Conrad J. Fongemie, was an American citizen, who worked at the Frazer Mill in Madawaska, Maine & lived in Frenchville, Maine. Fongemie went to Val-Lambert, New Brunswick, Canada as a guest & murdered a 4-year-old autistic child in a fit of rage, while sleeping off a drunken stupor in his car. Little Yvon threw a rock at the propane tanks near the house & missed, accidentally hitting the sleeping man's car instead. But the murder & tragedy in this family was far from over!

Murder is an ever increasing part of today's society. Not only do we hear daily reports of current homicides, but more and more we are beginning to hear the sordid ghosts of the past. The taking of a life is horrible, but even more horrendous is the loss of a child. For 23 years, Yvon's murder was disguised as a disappearance. It was insinuated that his mother was the police's main suspect. other eyes had seen the attack on Yvon, the only admitted witness to the crime was his brother Lawrence. Lawrence was only five when he watched in horror, as the life of his autistic brother was literally slammed right out of him. Yvon's attacker --- the drunken boyfriend of their mother's sister.
Less than six months later, Yvon's mother turns up dead, along with the 2800 grams (6.3 lbs) son she carried. Her cause of death was stated as Eclampsia (toxemia poisoning during pregnancy). Yet, current medical professionals have stated that eclampsia in a seventh pregnancy, with no prior history of toxemia, is virtually impossible! So how did she die?
The police would have us to believe that only the obvious "facts" warrant charges and ultimately lead to convictions in crimes. That is simply an unrealistic attitude! Too often, criminals go unpunished because they leave no obvious clues, but an overall look at events prior to, during and after a crime reveal so much more. In this case, we could add another probability --- police involvement and/or a cover-up of the initial crime. Now it gets really interesting! The RCMP told us, "No proof, no crime, no conviction! Oh, and an eye witness is not evidence either!
