The Worm Castings in this test came from fresh dairy
cow manure, which had been processed by (eisenia foetida)
red worms for 6 months or more.
The end result is black soil, which we had tested at a state
licensed soil lab in Starkville, MS. The soil was tested for use
in "Home Vegetable Garden" & the results
were as follows:
Soil PH is 6.4 -
(6-7 PH level is ideal)
Phosphorus level
is 1070 (lbs./acre) (very high)
Potassium level
is 1180 (lbs./acre) (very high)
Magnesium level
is 1139 (lbs./acre) (very high)
Zinc level is
41.7 (lbs./acre) (very
high)
Calcium level
is 4635 (lbs./acre)
Total Soluble Salts
is 1.7 (excessive)
Looks like the
cows are getting a little too much salt in their diet!
:(
These castings are all natural & some of the richest soil and/or
fertilizer you can buy to put in your home garden. The lab
recommended adding 3 lbs. of ammonium nitrate per 100
foot of row, 4-6 inches from the
base of the plant, but warned NOT
to get it ON the plants. I wonder why!
Remember the Tomato Plant we
put in our worm pit in August 2003?
We didn't need to add
this chemical!
