One of the biggest problems
for large scale new growers is the initial purchase & set-up costs associated
with getting started. Ordering large amounts of worm stock can be expensive and
then there are the added expenses of bedding, postal shipping or
transportation/delivery services, buildings or storage, propagation boxes, bins
or pits, etc.
Then comes the wait! Bulk
worms are predominantly sold either as breeder stock or pit/bed run. Breeders
are all mature worms and pit/bed run are worms of various stages of maturity.
Larger breeders are best used as bait worms, because they tend to have longer
re-adjustment periods to new environments and they usually do not reproduce as
fast as bed/pit run worms.
Although the eisenia foetida
red worms have the widest range of acceptable environments, their purchase cost
can prevent new growers from buying an adequate starting stock, which increases
the time necessary to reproduce before you have enough stock to start turning a
profit. This is largely due to the fact that worms ordered by the pound are
worms only!
It takes about 2-3 weeks for
the worms to re-adjust to their new environment, before they start laying eggs
for you. Under proper conditions, each adult worm can lay an egg capsule every
7-10 days and each egg capsule will produce 2-20 worms. The eggs will hatch in
21 days, same as a chicken egg. Then it takes another 2 1/2 to 3 1/2
months for the baby worms to reach breeding maturity.
Thus it is fair to say that it
will take about 6 months for new new growers to start seeing an increase in
their worm stock, when ordering worms by the pound. Depending on how many worms
you start with, you may have to go through 2 or more breeding cycles before you
have enough worms to sell. We believe we
can cut this time in half using our integrated seed stock system!

produce one million worms in one year & one billion worms in two years.

Due to postal restrictions on approved shipping materials, the system we are
about to describe is
only available to customers who pick up
their worms at Magic Wiggler & those who meet our delivery requirements!
To be eligible for our delivery services, there is a
50 tray minimum order required
within 400 miles of
Jackson, Mississippi & a
100 tray minimum over 400 miles. There is
no minimum or maximum for customers who come to Magic Wiggler!
What makes our system better and more cost effective, you might ask? Well
here's why:
Our system costs are based on trays like the
ones you see below. The contents of each tray are $5
and includes about 1/2 pound+ of various aged worms (bed run), bedding &
egg capsules which are at various hatching stages.
Our trays are not part of the deal!
The first benefit is the
"new worms" you will have almost
immediately, due to the egg capsules already in the bedding material. This
reduces the wait before reproduction begins, which can also dramatically reduce
the amount of time it will take to start turning a profit, because all of our
trays are loaded with egg capsules.
Second, the initial bedding cost on your end is eliminated. Our trays have
everything your worms need for 2-4 weeks. All you need is a place for us to dump
the trays into (pits, bins, tubs, wind rows, etc.). Then you simply start adding the food
and/or bedding materials you intend to use, as new food and bedding are needed.
Therefore,
$5
per tray is highly cost effective, since it includes a pound
of worms, bedding, food for 2-4 weeks & you are reproducing new growth almost
immediately, which reduces reproduction waits.
For those who live close enough or feel coming to our farm is feasible, our
system will also eliminate any shipping or delivery costs, except your actual
traveling expense and time. In this fast paced world, time is very valuable to
us all!
For those who need us to deliver the worms, we only charge you
50 cents per mile from Jackson,
Mississippi and back. Current independent drivers are now charging as much as $2 per
mile, round trip and transport companies can cost even more. Until now, we too
would have had to rent a truck, hire an independent driver or solicit the
services of a transport company. However, we are now equipped to bring the worms
right to your door. This is another 75% savings directly to you!
You picking up our integrated worm system here or us bringing them to you
eliminates the postal restrictions. All public postal & shipping companies (usps,
fedex, ups, etc.) have postal size, weight & material restrictions. Cost for any
of the services is determined by postage class (priority, parcel, etc.), weight
& size of each item shipped. This means the per pound cost of worms must meet
the added expense of purchasing the allowable bedding materials that can be
shipped. Then there is the actual cost of shipping charges and the boxes, tape,
labels, etc. Most states require all sales to individuals within that state to
pay sales tax as well.
These are the main reasons worms shipped through the mail can cost more than
many of you feel is necessary. Now you can see why we think our system is best
for nearby or large worm growers.
You only pay $5 per tray
& 50 cents per mile.
All you have to do for 2-4 weeks is provide a place to put your new worm system.
The only restriction is a
50 tray minimum under 400 miles
from Jackson Mississippi & a
100 tray minimum over 400 miles.
This restriction does not apply to those picking up their worm system at Magic
Wiggler. Those who come here will have all contents of the trays (bedding, eggs,
worms) transferred into tubs like you
see below. The tubs are
Free! All
you do is empty the tubs into your own growing containers once you get home and
the tubs can then be used for a variety of purposes.
Our trays are not part of the deal!
They are well insulated, sturdy and great for transportation, making them ideal
for us to bring you our integrated worm system. However, at this time, we are
unable to get more of them.

Paypal now accepts checks electronically, which is a secure alternative for
those who wish to pay by check. All you are required to have is a valid email
address. We provide this service at no extra cost to you, Paypal provides you
with buyer protection if anything goes wrong and Paypal no longer requires a
free account set up to use their secure servers through our shopping cart.
To use this free service, simply provide us
with you email address. We will then send you an invoice in the form of a
"Request for Payment"
through Paypal.
You simply click the link in the email from
Paypalrequesting payment. On the page that opens, enter your shipping & payment
information. Paypal does the rest!
Having a Paypal account is no longer required, but you will be given an option
to
save your information
(creates a free account) or
not to save, which
deletes your information after Paypal
processes this payment!
If you are already an active Paypal
member, you
will simply be asked to log into
your account to continue!
